The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the fifth of 16 meetings this season and the fourth of nine at Santander Arena. Elmira has been most comfortable away from home in this building where its record stands at 1-1-1. In the prior three meetings between the Jackals and Royals at Santander Arena, the winning team has been the team with the best power play. Elmira went 2-for-3 in its season-opening win on October 26, but has gone 0-for-5 in its last two trips here. The Royals, meanwhile, are 4-for-11 on the power play in their two home wins over the Jackals. Elmira and Reading have been moving in opposite directions over the last two weeks. Elmira is 4-2-1 in that time and has climbed to within three points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Reading, meanwhile, has gone 2-4-1 over its last seven games and has slipped to eighth in the East.
Jackals captain Jean Bourbeau has ten points (2G, 8A) in his last ten games after enduring a 10-game point drought that lasted from October 25 to November 16. Bourbeau has three multi-point efforts over this ten-game span and is just three back of Jakub Culek for the team lead in assists. His three assist game on Dec. 8 was the first three-point game Bourbeau produced in his six-year pro career.
