The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the third of 15 meetings this season and first of eight at First Arena. Wheeling has edged out victories in the first two meetings with a 1-0 win last night and a 3-2 win in the season opener on October 18. Last night, Wheeling nailed the door shut defensively behind a 37-save shutout effort by rookie goaltender Eric Hartzell. The Jackals controlled the play offensively, out-shooting the Nailers 37-24, but couldn't solve Hartzell. Wheeling's only goal came in the second period off the stick of Sahir Gill. Tonight will be Elmira's first home game since its 3-0 victory against Greenville on November 1. Grabbing the early lead will be the key tonight for both teams. Elmira is 3-0-0 this season when leading after one and holds an identical record when leading after two periods. Wheeling is 1-0-0 when leading after the first and 3-0-0 when holding the advantage after the second.

The Jackals will have a new face in the lineup tonight when they host the Nailers. Christian Ouellet signed with Elmira today after San Francisco released him from his contract. The Quebec native had 37 points as a rookie last season between Gwinnett and San Francisco. Ouellet will find some familiar faces when he walks into the Jackals' locker room. Matt Carter was a teammate in San Francisco last season and Ouellet was a part of the Gatineau squad that went to the 2011 QMJHL Finals featuring current Jackals Philip-Michael Devos, Mathieu Gagnon and Maxime Clermont.
