The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the 10th of 16 meetings this season, and sixth of nine at Santander Arena. The Jackals are 2-6-1 against the Royals this season (2-2-1 on the road) after January 12th's 3-0 setback in Reading. The Jackals have lost four in a row to the Royals dating back to December 26 and have been outscored 17-5 over that stretch. Reading enters today's action as the hottest team in the ECHL with a six-game winning streak and an 8-2-0 mark in their last ten. That run has propelled Reading from eighth to fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. The Jackals, meanwhile, are gunning for three consecutive road wins for the first time this season. This is the second straight MLK Day matinee for Elmira in Reading following last year's 5-2 come-from-behind win (four third period goals).

Elmira had a busy day personnel-wise yesterday. The New Jersey Devils reassigned F Riley Boychuk and D Harry Young to the Jackals. Boychuk hasn't skated with Elmira since 10/25, while Young has been up with the Devils since 11/16. Young was without a point in 10 games while Boychuk notched two points (1G, 1A) in 18 games. Additionally, in the wake of Max Clermont's injury, Scott Greenham has been loaned to the Jackals by Binghamton. To make room on the roster Jake Trask was waived and Mathieu Gagnon and Zach McCullough were placed on reserve.
