ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they will host a public watch party on Thursday, February 20 at Noon for the Winter Olympics Women's Hockey gold medal game between the United States and Canada.
"The Jackals have a special connection to the U.S. Women's Hockey team thanks to Kasey Bellamy's presence on the squad. We consider Kasey an extended member of the Jackals family since her brothers Rob and Corey have each played in Elmira over the last three years. We are all thrilled for the success Kasey and her teammates have enjoyed in Sochi so far and can't wait to cheer them on this Thursday," said Jackals general manager Matt Hufnagel.
Kasey Bellamy is competing in her second Winter Olympic Games after helping the United States win silver in 2010 at the Vancouver Games. This year, in Sochi, she has a goal and an assist in four games to help the U.S. go 3-1-0 and reach the gold medal game against Canada. Kasey scored her first goal of the tournament in Monday's 6-1 semifinal win over Sweden, and will try to help her team avenge the 2010 loss to Canada in Vancouver.
Hockey fans throughout the Twin Tiers will have a special opportunity to watch Thursday's gold medal game alongside Kacey's brothers, Rob and Corey Bellamy. Both Jackals forwards will be in attendance at SplitRock Brewing Company inside First Arena to watch their sister, and the U.S. Women's team, go for the gold. The watch party is free to attend and SplitRock will be offering its full menu along with daily specials. Faceoff is scheduled for Noon, EST and SplitRock opens at 11:00 a.m. so get here early to claim your seat!
