Elmira Jackals Community Report - December 2016
As a community owned team, staying active in the community is extremely important to all of us with the Jackals. In December, our players and staff participated in a few unique events and connected with our terrific fans. Hockey season is well underway and the Jackals will once again play an active role in our community.
December 2016 - Events
Hanlon Elementary - Dec. 13
Kyle Rankin, Andy Iles, Ian Young, and Davis Vandane visited Hanlon Elementary in Odessa, NY to talk to 3rd-6th grade students about the importance of working hard and what it takes to become successful in each students path of choice. Jackals players shared personal stories about how they got to where they are today, through sacrifice and struggle.
Teddy Bear Delivery - Dec. 13
Jackals players stopped by the Watkins Glen Police and Schuyler County Sheriff's Departments to deliver Teddy Bears that were donated by fans during our annual Teddy Bear Toss game on December 2nd. The Jackals organization is donating all Teddy Bears to local emergency services.
Career Development Council - Dec. 15
Members of the Elmira Jackals/First Arena front office staff spent the morning at GST BOCES in Horseheads, NY. Danielle Alred (Art Director), Jessica Rhodes (Community Relations & Promotions) and Keith Cummings (Corporate Sales and Game Operations) sat beside other local sports professionals and spoke to local students who have great interest in working in the sports industry.
Parley Coburn Pizza Party - Dec. 19
Jackals players, Kyle Rankin, Mark Bennett, Greg Betzold and Tyson Fawcett spent the afternoon with Parley Coburn 6th graders answering questions and eating pizza.
Center Street Elementary - Dec. 20
Mike Radja, Steven Kaunisto, Mark Bennett, and Kenton Miller attended gym class at Center Street Elementary in Horseheads, NY. Center Street Elementary works closely with the Jackals to promote reading and physical wellness. The Jackals visit Center Street gym classes once per month as a reward for the Jackals Reading Program.
Gardner Road Elementary - Dec. 21
Jackals newcomers Greg Amlong, Greg Betzold, JP LaFontaine and Matt Lane made their first appearances of their Jackal careers at Gardner Road Elementary. Players spent time reading "Giraffee's Can't Dance" to students.
Carubba Collision Grand Opening - Dec. 28
Blade headed to Philo Road West in Horseheads to celebrate the grand opening of Carubba Collision with Joe Carubba and the staff. Catch our Carubba Collision of the Game at every Jackals home game!
The Jackals have a busy schedule and players will be out in force once again in January. Here is a look ahead at some of the many events we'll participate in during January.

January 14 - vs. Reading Royals 7:05pm (10th Anniversary Night)
January 25 - vs. Fort Wayne Komets 7:05pm ($1 Beer Night)
January 27 - vs. Fort Wayne Komets 7:05pm (Princess Night)
January 29 - vs. Adirondack Thunder 4:05pm (Blade's Birthday)
