Goaltender John Muse has been reassigned by Rochester to Elmira. The 28-year-old won the Kelly Cup in 2011-12 with the Florida Everblades and was named Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP for his efforts that spring. The East Falmouth, Massachusetts native spent 2015-16 with the AHL's Texas Stars and Charlotte Checkers, posting a record of 18-9-4 with a 2.52 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 37 games played. He ended last season as the Checkers' all-time career leader in wins (63) and games played (125) in parts of five seasons with the club and in 145 career AHL games, Muse is 73-49-9 with a 2.62 goals against average, a .915 save percentage with seven shutouts.

Muse has also appeared in 47 career ECHL games with the Florida Everblades and Fort Wayne Komets, going 25-14-8. Prior to turning pro he played at Boston College from 2007 to 2011, winning two NCAA National Championships. He signed an AHL contract with the Amerks in July.

Rochester also released forwards Matt Zay and Kyle Rankin from their AHL tryouts, returning them to the Jackals.

Rankin, 23, enters his first full professional season in 2016-17. After completing four seasons at Princeton University, the Kanata, Ontario native signed with the Brampton Beast and played in six games to end the 2015-16 season. In 117 games at Princeton, Rankin had 31 points (10g, 21a) and served as team captain as a senior.

Zay, 25, begins his second full season this year after appearing in 58 games for the Evansville Icemen last year. He put up 21 points (9g, 12a) and had 52 penalty minutes for the Icemen. He spent four seasons at Mercyhurst University from 2011 to 2015 and was team captain as a senior. After completing his senior season, Zay joined the professional ranks by appearing in seven games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons and Binghamton Senators at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.
