Jackals Hold Court with Royals in Town

The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, return home from a successful trip south to host the Reading Royals in another DeMet's Candy Cup Challenge matchup.

MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP

Tonight marks the 123rd all-time regular season game between the Jackals and the Royals, making the Royals the most frequently played opponent of the Jackals. The Jackals are 55-55-12 all-time against the Royals, including a 4-5-0 record in nine meetings this year. This year, the Royals took two of the first three meetings in October. However, Elmira won consecutive 5-4 thrillers on Nov. 20 & 21 to take the season series lead. On Dec. 18, the Jackals took their third straight in the series improving their season record to 3-1-0-0 in Reading. Recently, however, the goals have been hard to come by for the Jackals. On Dec 19 & 26, Reading's Adam Morrison posted back to back shutouts for the Royals to even the season series at four apiece. On Jan. 15, Martin Oullette posted a 4-0 shutout, the Royals third consecutive against the Jackals to take the season series lead. Cason Hohmann and Colin Jacobs have each scored three goals versus Reading this year, while Hohmann leads the Jackals with six assists and nine points in the nine meetings this season.
