Jackals Receive Allan McPherson and Spiro Goulakos from Rochester

The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today forward Allan McPherson and defensemanSpiro Goulakos have been assigned to Elmira by Rochester.

 

McPherson, 24, returns to Elmira after his third stint with Rochester this season. He was recalled on Saturday and played in one game for the Americans in his most recent stint in the AHL. McPherson joins the Jackals with a current four-game goal streak and a five-game point streak. He has logged 10 points (six goals, four assists) in four games for the Jackals this month. The 5-foot-10 180-pound forward is tied for first on the Jackals with 16 goals and ranks second with 32 points. McPherson's point total has come in just 25 games with Elmira which has produced a 1.28 points-per-game average that tops the team. He also leads all Jackals skaters with a +18 rating. The Kinburn, Ontario native has also notched one goal in 16 games with the Rochester Americans.

 

McPherson split his rookie campaign between Elmira and Rochester earning 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 24 games with the Jackals while adding eight points (three goals, five assists) in 44 games with the Americans. 

 

Prior to turning pro, McPherson reached the 100-point club at Clarkson University, amassing 103 points (41 goals, 62 assists) in 150 games. He earned Clarkson's Bill Harrison Most Valuable Player honor as a junior and a senior.

 

Goulakos, 25, returns to the Jackals following his second stint in the AHL this season. The 6-foot-2 195-pound defenseman skated in seven games with Rochester in his latest stint recording an even plus-minus, two shots on goal and four penalty minutes. In eight games with the Americans, the rookie defenseman has a +1 rating with three shots on goal and four penalty minutes. Prior to his latest recall, Goulakos had recorded 19 points (five goals, 14 assists), a +3 rating and 75 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Jackals. He led all team defenseman in scoring at the time and returns still tied for first in assists and second in points. Goulakos also leads all Jackals skaters with four power-play goals.

 

Prior to turning pro, the Montreal, Quebec native posted 71 points (22 goals, 49 assists) and 176 penalty minutes in 130 NCAA games while serving as a two-time captain at Colgate University.

 

In additional team news, the club has released defenseman Taylor Love from his Standard Player Contract.
