Jackals Also Ink Four to Tryout Agreements
The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today the team has signed forward Casey Thrush to a Standard Player Contract for the 2016-17 season.
Thrush, 24, begins his second professional season and his first with the Jackals, spending his rookie season with four ECHL clubs. The Easton, Maryland native played 25 games among the four teams and had eight points (4g, 4a).
"I'm very excited to sign with the Jackals for this upcoming season," Thrush said. "I gained valuable experience last year and am ready to take the next step and contribute even further this year. Seeing and knowing some of the other players signed and knowing the coaches and management for the Jackals, I think we have the potential to be a strong contender this season."
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward had a strong collegiate career playing for the University of New Hampshire from 2011 to 2015. In 151 games for the Wildcats, Thrush produced 63 points (20g, 43a) and was a +25 player for his career.
Before enrolling at New Hampshire, Thrush spent the 2010-11 season playing in the USHL for the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In his one season with the Lumberjacks, he had 28 points (10g, 18a) and a +8 rating in 59 games. In six playoff games that season, Thrush chipped in with two goals.
