MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP

This weekend the Jackals welcome their neighbors to the north for a two-game set. These meetings begin a stretch in which the Jackals and Beast meet five times in Elmira's final seven regular season games. The Jackals only have three home games remaining in the regular season and all of them are against the Beast. In the last meeting, the Jackals completed a weekend sweep in Brampton with a 3-2 victory on March 6. Mark Bennett, Zach Cohen and Tyler Currier scored for the Jackals while Shane Owen stopped 16 shots to win his second consecutive start with the Jackals. He currently has a 6-0-0 record in six starts, since being acquired from Indy, with a 1.65 goals-against-average and a .950 save percentage. In the last meeting at First Arena on January 18, the Jackals peppered Jordan Ruby with 43 shots and prevailed 2-1 in the shootout. Colin Jacobs leads the Jackals with six points against the Beast and is tied with Spiro Goulakos with four assists. The Jackals are 5-1-0 against Brampton this season and hold a 10-2-0 all-time record against the Beast.
