A Look Back at the Jackals History in the ECHL

The Elmira Jackals joined the ECHL in the summer of 2007 and celebrate their 10th anniversary season this year. As part of the celebration, the Jackals will periodically look back at significant moments in team history from our time in the ECHL.

In today's "This Date in Jackals History" we go back to January 12, 2008 as the Jackals hosted the Cincinnati Cyclones. Jackals forward Chaz Johnson stole the show to lead Elmira to a 4-3 win over the Cyclones.

Johnson, in his first season with the Jackals, scored three times for the first Jackals hat trick as members of the ECHL. His 10th, 11th and 12th goals of the season helped the Jackals overcome deficits of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2. Bobby Robins eventually gave the Jackals a 4-3 lead in the third period, which held up as the final score.

Johnson would go on to play parts of four seasons with the Jackals, finishing his Jackals career in 2012-13 with 105 points (50g, 55a) in 160 games.
