A Look Back at the Jackals History in the ECHL

The Elmira Jackals joined the ECHL in the summer of 2007 and celebrate their 10th anniversary season this year. As part of the celebration, the Jackals will periodically look back at significant moments in team history from our time in the ECHL.

In today's "This Date in Jackals History" we go back to Sunday, November 18, 2007. That afternoon, the Jackals played the final game of their one and only trip to Texas. The Jackals defeated the Texas Wildcatters, 2-1 in a shootout, to win two out of three games in Texas.

The Jackals opened the rubber match of the three-in-three by taking a 1-0 lead late in the first period. With 1:10 to go in the opening frame Pierre-Luc Faubert scored a power-play goal to give Elmira a 1-0 lead. The Wildcatters tied the game in the second period and it would head to a shootout deadlocked at one.

In the shootout, the Jackals scored on two of their three attempts while Texas was stopped on all four of their tries, giving the Jackals the 2-1 shootout win. Dan LaCosta made 42 saves to earn the win for Elmira over Anton Khudobin.
