Tyler Currier Loaned to Springfield

The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Tyler Currier has been loaned to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL.

Currier, 27, made his AHL debut tonight recording a goal and an assist while earning the game's first star honors. The 6-foot-2 205-pound forward left the Jackals as the team's leading goal scorer with 21 goals on the season. Currier is having a career year with Elmira posting 33 points (21 goals, 12 assists), 70 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating in 63 games. He is tied for second on the team with four power-play goals and ranks fourth in points. Prior to his AHL call-up, Currier has skated in 150 professional games between the Jackals, the Missouri Mavericks and the Alaska Aces and has accrued 58 points (33 goals, 25 assists) with 181 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, the Anchorage, Alaska native skated for his hometown school at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He appeared in 103 NCAA games for the Seawolves registering 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) and 116 penalty minutes. Currier was voted the Leon Thompson Fan Favorite by his hometown UAA fans.
