Barlow named ECHL Player of the Week

Elmira Jackals left wing Evan Barlow is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 14 - 16, the league announced on Tuesday.

Barlow posted a league-leading three goals, four assists, and seven points in Elmira's two wins to start the season this past weekend. On Friday night, Barlow tied a Jackals record with six points, entering the third period with three assists before recording a natural hat trick in Elmira's 7-3 win over Trenton. The Strathmore, Alberta native added an assist in the Jackals' 3-1 victory over the Titans on Saturday.

This is the first weekly ECHL honor for Barlow, now in his third professional season.

Barlow has 136 points (53g-83a) in 99 career regular-season games with Idaho and Elmira and has added 25 points (10g-15a) in 24 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Steelheads in the previous two seasons. He was named the MVP of the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game after registering four points (2g-2a) and was also named to the 2009-2010 ECHL All-Rookie Team after scoring 75 points (32g-43a) in 58 games.

Prior to turning pro, Barlow played four seasons at Cornell University (NCAA, D-I), scoring 61 points (28g-33a) in 126 games.
