The Elmira Jackals announced on Thursday that forward Jack Downing has been assigned to the club by its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Downing, a 6'3", 200-pound rookie has four goals and four assists for eight points in 11 games with Elmira in 2011-2012. The native of New Canaan, Conn. has one assist in 14 games with the B-Sens this season.

Prior to turning pro, Downing skated four seasons at the University of Vermont (NCAA, D-I), scoring 35 goals and adding 28 assists for 63 points in his collegiate career.
