The first period got off to a rocky start for the Jackals and goalie Marc Cheverie. The Everblades scored three goals on their first 11 shots to take a 3-0 lead with just over seven minutes left to play in the first. Matt Marquardt opened the scoring at 6:18 with his fifth of the season. Bobby Raymond followed at 9:33 and David Rutherford finished off the surge at 12:50. At that point Dwight Mullins sent Maxime Clermont in to replace Cheverie and called a timeout. The Jackals responded by scoring 17 seconds after play resumed. From behind the net Dustin Gazley fed a centering pass to Andrew Rowe who flicked a one-timer past Florida goalie Pat Nagel. It took just 56 seconds for the Jackals to claw within one as Darren Kramer hammered home a Jordan Pietrus centering pass for his first professional goal. The Jackals earned a power play with 22 seconds remaining in the first and carried the remaining 1:38 into the start of the second.

Elmira was unable to break through on the power play to start the second period and found itself back down by two after Marquardt cashed in an odd-man rush 3:35 into the frame. Gazely drew Elmira back within one at 10:26 with his fifth goal of the season with assists going to Rowe and Artem Demkov. But Florida found a way to answer again on an odd-man rush. This time it was Brody Sutter setting up Alex Hutchings to restore the two-goal lead.

In the third the Jackals launched 13 shots Nagel's way, but none found paydirt and the Jackals' comeback never materialized. Florida's Mathieu Roy deflected a shot from the edge of the crease just past Clermont to give Florida a three-goal lead at 6-3. The score at 4:39 was assisted by Bobby Raymond and Rutherford. Things got chippy late in the third when a hip check by Gazley on Hutchings set off a fight between those two while Jordon Southorn and Taylor Ellington also dropped the mitts. The two defensemen were ejected for secondary altercations.

Clermont took the loss in stopping 20 of the 23 shots he faced. Cheverie stopped eight of 11 but was not the goalie of record since Elmira scored three goals. The Jackals finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
