For the fifth straight game Elmira grabbed the first goal of the game, but tonight it was from a new source. in his second game back from a training camp injury Kevin Harvey blasted a slap shot from the left wing that eluded Cincinnati's Brian Foster and put the Jackals ahead at 5:31. Artem Demkov followed suit at 12:54 by tipping home a Matt Campanale point shot to pad the Jackals' lead to two. The power play goal was Demkov's fifth of the season, third on the PP, and came with 7:06 left in the session. Marc Cheverie was busy as he faced 17 Cyclones shots and thwarted each one.

The second saw the Cyclones continue to generate chances thanks to a 4-0 advantage in power play opportunities. While the Jackals killers held the Cyclones' power play at bay, the last straw finally broke the camel's back. With time winding down in the period, Cincinnati's Francois Bouchard threw a desperation shot to the net. After it caromed around Garrett Wilson pushed the puck across the line just an eyelash before the horn signaled the end of the period. The goal counted and left the score at 2-1 entering the third.

In the final session Cincinnati struck twice before the period was half over to leave Elmira trailing in a game for the first time this season. Chris Reed's first of the season found its way past Cheverie through bodies in front at 3:34 then a similar shot by Josh McFadden was tipped in by Jonathan Hazen at 9:25. Elmira surged in an effort to find the tying goal and put itself in good position when Jean Bourbeau drew a penalty with just over four minutes to play. As the advantage wound down the Jackals pulled Cheverie with 22 seconds left on the power play yet still couldn't send one last puck past Foster. A roughing minor to Harvey with three seconds to play sent the game to its final score.

Cheverie turned aside 33 shots in the loss while the Jackals were 1-for-4 on the power play and 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
