Former Jackals All-Star Gratchev assigned to Elmira

The Elmira Jackals announced on Saturday that they have been assigned forward Maxime Gratchev by their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Gratchev, a third-year pro, was an ECHL All-Star with the Jackals in his rookie season of 2009-2010.

With the Jackals two years ago, Gratchev scored 17 goals and added 24 assists for 41 points while also earning significant time in the AHL, skating in 30 games between the B-Sens and the Rochester Americans, totaling four goals and five assists for nine points. The Novosibirsk, Russia native recorded two assists in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in Ontario. Gratchev tied a Jackals record with six points and set a club mark with six assists in an 11-3 Jackals win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Nov. 14, 2009.

After his standout rookie season, Gratchev skated in 13 games with the KHL's Cherepovets Severstal in 2010-2011. Gratchev has played in one game with Binghamton this season.

As an amateur, Gratchev skated five seasons in the QMJHL, scoring 92 goals and contributing 120 assists for 212 points in 282 games. He was selected by the New York Islanders in the fourth round (106th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
