Jackals acquire goaltender Petizian

The Elmira Jackals announced on Friday that they have acquired goaltender Alex Petizian from the Ontario Reign in exchange for future considerations. The Jackals and the Reign meet for the first time at 10:00 p.m. (ET) at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Petizian spent much of training camp this year with the AHL's Portland Pirates and played in two games with the Pirates during the regular season, going 0-1-0 with a .867 save percentage and a 4.02 goals-against average. Petizian was acquired from the Alaska Aces by Ontario in early January and played in one game with the Reign, making 30 saves on 35 shots. He made his professional debut last season with the AHL's Rochester Americans, stopping 26 of 30 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Syracuse Crunch.

A rookie from Kirkland, Quebec, Petizian spent the last four seasons at St. Lawrence University (NCAA), going 45-29-10. He set a school record with a career goals-against average of 2.53 and had a career save percentage of .913. Petizian posted career bests in save percentage (.927) and goals-against average (2.18) during his junior season of 2008-2009. As a freshman in 2006-2007, Petizian won a career-high 19 games.
