Jackals renew affiliations with Senators, Ducks

The Elmira Jackals announced on Wednesday that they have renewed their affiliation agreements with the NHL's Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks for the 2011-2012 season.

"We are thrilled about the opportunity to continue working with Ottawa and Anaheim this upcoming season," Nichols said. "The affiliations give us an opportunity to develop young talent from the Ducks and the Senators and help us put a high-quality product on the ice for our fans."

The Jackals will be continuing their partnership with Ottawa and its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, for a fourth-consecutive season. Ottawa has qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs in 12 of the past 14 seasons. Binghamton won its first ever Calder Cup this past June, with four players who skated with the Jackals during the 2010-2011 season seeing game action with the B-Sens in the playoffs. Patrick Coulombe, Mike Hoffman, David Sloane, and Brennan Turner combined for a total of 30 games in the AHL's postseason. Binghamton has been Ottawa's AHL developmental team since the B-Sens joined the AHL in 2002-2003.

"Our partnership with Ottawa and Binghamton is stronger than it has ever been," Nichols said. "Binghamton's run to the Calder Cup last season certainly gives us inspiration and added excitement heading into this season."

Last season was Elmira's first working with Anaheim. The Ducks took on the Syracuse Crunch as their AHL affiliate entering the 2010-2011 season. Anaheim's Corey Perry, the older brother of former Jackal A.J. Perry, was awarded the NHL's Hart Trophy as the league's MVP in 2010-2011, and the club has qualified for the playoffs in five of the last six seasons. Elmira was affiliated with Syracuse in its first ECHL season of 2007-2008 and in two seasons while in the UHL.

"Our first season with Anaheim and Syracuse proved to be very successful," Nichols said. "Some of our most important players came from the Ducks and the Crunch in 2010-2011, and we look forward to working with them again this season."
