Jackals stay unbeaten with 5-2 win over Everblades
Friday, October 21, 2011Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals upped their unbeaten record to 3-0 on the 2011-2012 season with a 5-2 victory on Friday night over the Florida Everblades at First Arena.

The Jackals scored first for the third-straight game when Mike Radja backhanded a puck in on the doorstep after an Evan Barlow wraparound bid was denied at 10:50 to give Elmira a 1-0 lead.
Artem Demkov picked up his third goal of the year at 2:53 of the second period when he snapped a puck over Florida goaltender John Muse's stick from the right circle, adding to the Jackals advantage, 2-0. Demkov scored his second goal of the period and fourth of the year when he fired in a rebound off of a Louie Caporusso shot with Elmira on a power play to extend the lead to 3-0 at 6:42.
David Fisher scored his first goal of the year at 10:32, taking a centering feed from David Rutherford and beating Timo Pielmeier five hole to put the Everblades on the board, 3-1. Minutes later, Florida's Bobby Raymond made it a one-goal game, putting in a loose puck off of a Matt Beca shot at 13:29 to make it 3-2.
Jackals goaltender Timo Pielmeier kept Elmira in front from there, silencing the Everblades on a flurry of chances late in the second period and early in the third.
Later in the final frame, Maxime Gratchev took a rebound off of a Mario Larocque shot from the point and sent it in at 14:12 to increase Elmira's lead to 4-2.
With two minutes left in the third, Florida head coach Greg Poss pulled Muse, and Radja fired a puck in from center ice into the empty net to seal Elmira's victory, 5-2, at 18:32.
Pielmeier improved to 2-0-0-0 on the year with a 40-save performance. Muse fell to 0-1-0-1, stopping 28 of 32 shots.
Elmira heads to Wheeling to meet the 2-0 Nailers on Saturday night.
