The Elmira Jackals close out their three-in-three with the Reading Royals at 4:05 p.m. at the Sovereign Center. Last night, the Jackals staged a comeback for their first road victory of 2011-2012, overcoming two one-goal deficits and receiving a late game-winning goal from Maxime Gratchev for a 4-2 win over the Royals. Brian Stewart made 25 saves on 27 shots for his third win of the season.
GRATCHEV GETS WINNER, EXTENDS POINT STREAK
Gratchev's goal at 13:40 of the third period gave Elmira its first lead of the night and served as the third-year pro's first game winner of the 2011-2012 season. In scoring the goal, Gratchev extended his team-best point streak to seven games (3g-5a). His point streak is tied for the second-longest current one in the ECHL and is the third-longest overall in the league this season.
STEWART STEADY AGAIN
Stewart improved to 3-1-0-0 with last night's victory, earning his second win of the week. The second-year pro from Burnaby, British Columbia is now fourth in the league with a .935 save percentage and is seventh with a 2.32 goals-against average. Stewart led the ECHL in his rookie season of 2010-2011 with a .927 save percentage.
