Pielmeier makes NHL debut with Ducks
Monday, February 21, 2011Former Elmira Jackals goaltender Timo Pielmeier made his NHL debut on Saturday with the club's NHL affiliate, the Anaheim Ducks. Pielmeier became the 463rd player to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL and is the fourth player to make his NHL debut after playing with the Jackals.
Pielmeier made seven saves on 12 shots in 40 minutes of playing time for the Ducks on Saturday in a 9-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues. The native of Deggendorf, Germany made his Jackals debut last weekend, playing in two games. He won his most recent start with Elmira on Feb. 13 against Ontario in a 3-1 Jackals victory, stopping 26 of 27 shots.
Pielmeier joins goaltender Dan LaCosta and defensemen Bryan Rodney and Derek Smith as players who have gone on to make their NHL debuts after playing with the Jackals. He is the second player this season to play with the Jackals and then play in the NHL, joining goaltender Mike Brodeur.
