Regan named ECHL Defenseman of the Year

The ECHL announced on Wednesday that Elmira Jackals defenseman Eric Regan has been named the 2010-2011 ECHL Defenseman of the Year. Regan becomes the first Jackal ever to earn this accolade.

Regan tied for third this season among ECHL defensemen with 41 points in 54 games in 2010-2011, was third with 13 goals, and added 28 assists.

The third-year pro from Whitby, Ontario was selected to the All-ECHL First Team for the second-straight season in 2010-2011. Regan was second among the league's blue liners last year with 50 points (16g-34a) with the Bakersfield Condors.

Regan is under contract with the Anaheim Ducks, one of Elmira's two NHL affiliates. He played in 12 games and collected an assist with Anaheim's AHL developmental team, the Syracuse Crunch, this season.
