Stewart assigned to Jackals

The Elmira Jackals announced on Tuesday that goaltender Brian Stewart has been assigned to the club by its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Stewart, a second-year pro, is 15-6-0-0 with the Jackals in 2011-2012, posting a .915 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against average. The Burnaby, British Columbia native was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 28 - Dec. 4 earlier this season, the second ECHL weekly award of his career. Last season, Stewart led the league with a .927 save percentage and was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team, playing primarily with the Bakersfield Condors.

This is Stewart's seventh assignment to the Jackals in 2011-2012.

The Jackals return home on Wednesday to host the Wheeling Nailers at First Arena, with the opening faceoff at 7:05 p.m. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
