Jackals Mascot Hits Stride With Community Appearances

ELMIRA, NY The Elmira Jackals announced Friday that their mascot Blade has another busy appearance schedule slated for this weekend.

The Jackals intrepid mascot has been venturing out of the Jackals Den a lot during the past few weeks as the Southern Tier prepares for the heat of summer. This weekend is no different, as he will be making three more appearances this weekend.

On Saturday, June 9th, Blade will be participating in the National Kidney Foundation Kidney Walk. The walk will be held at Eldridge Park in Elmira, with Registration set for 9:00 am. and the walk starting at 10:00 am. Saturday night, Blade will be participating in the Montour Falls Fire Department Parade, which will begin at 5 pm.

On Sunday, June 10th Blade will take part in the Challenger Little League's final game and Awards Ceremony in Big Flats. Blade will also be bringing a special guest that is sure to bring joy to all of the participants.

Blade was even busier last week as he made 5 different promotional visits in just three days. Last Thursday Blade visited Glove House and the big chicken dinner at Wisner Park in downtown Elmira. Last Friday Blade went to Cohen PFO for their annual Ice Cream Social and then traveled to Corning to participate in a Luau held to support the mentally challenged. Last Saturday Blade participated in the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's First Annual Children's Hunger Walk. Later that night Blade was a "guest" dealer for Casino Night at the Corning Glass Museum, a fundraising event for childcare at one of the local churches.

The Elmira Jackals and Blade are willing to do appearances throughout the Twin Tiers during the summer months as part of their efforts to stay active in the community even during the hockey off-season. For more information, please contact Edward Meek in the Jackals office, 607-734-PUCK.
