The businesses that backed the Elmira Jackals
A minor-league club is carried by local money. This is the partner list the Jackals published, and it doubles as a snapshot of downtown Elmira and the Twin Tiers in the mid-2010s.

Who paid for the boards
Sponsorship at this level is not one big name on the front of the sweater. It is a hundred and twenty-seven local businesses taking a board, a night, a scoreboard slot or a page in the programme — radio stations, a chiropractor, two breweries, a law firm, the county SPCA and most of the car dealerships between Corning and Sayre.
That arithmetic is what keeps a club at this level alive. A 3,784-seat building cannot fund a professional roster on ticket sales, so the gap is closed by selling everything else: the boards around the ice, the space on the scoreboard, the naming of a night, the page in the programme, the group outing for a company’s staff. A corporate sales director and two or three account executives spend the summer doing exactly that, and the season servicing it.
The list is also a document of the Twin Tiers economy in the mid-2010s. Corning Incorporated and Arnot Health sit next to a pizza place in Horseheads and a brewery in Bath. The banks, the law firms and the car dealerships are the ones that were trading then, and a good number of the smaller names have since closed or changed hands.

Questions
About the sponsors
Common questions about the partner list
When is this list from?
A single season in the mid-2010s, as the club published it. Sponsor lists are renewed every summer, so this is one year rather than a record of everyone who backed the club across seventeen.
Did the arena have a naming-rights sponsor?
Yes. The building opened in 2000 as the Coach USA Center and took the First Arena name in 2004. Naming rights sit separately from the club’s own partner list.
Why do some names look misspelled?
They are reproduced as the club spelled them, typing errors included. Correcting them would put words in the club’s mouth and make the list harder to match against other records.
Are these businesses still trading?
Some are and some are not. The list is a record of who supported the club at the time, not a current directory, and nothing here should be treated as a recommendation.
How much did sponsorship cost?
The club never published its rate card, and no figure survives in anything this archive holds.
