Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today that their trusty mascot Blade along with members of the front office staff will be helping to clean up downtown Elmira this Saturday.
Blade is leading his fellow front office staffers out of the First Arena on Saturday, May 20th, for Downtown Cleanup 2006. This is the annual group community service project to benefit downtown Elmira, orchestrated by Elmira Downtown Development, Inc. On Saturday, the 20th of May, volunteer groups of all ages will be cleaning up specific areas of downtown Elmira as part of EDDs on-going efforts to evoke the positive change happening in Elmira.
Saturdays Downtown Cleanup runs from 10 am to 12 pm and EDD will provide all of the cleanup supplies necessary. DTCU06 will feature a free pizza party after the two-hour event, with Live music broadcast by 94 Rock and free tee shirts for all youth volunteers. All volunteers must be registered with EDD to participate in the post-cleanup party.
Participating groups will meet in Wisner Park at 10 am on Saturday to register all volunteers and to pick up supplies.
