Boucher Earns Jackals Second UHL Goalie Award

Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today that the United Hockey League has named Nick Boucher as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week.

Boucher had a superb week as he helped the Jackals to a sweep of their western road trip. In two starts, the Cobble Hill, British Columbia native was 2-0-0 with a 2.50 goals against average and a 0.938 save percentage. Boucher began the weekend by making 36 saves Friday night and beating the Quad City Mallards 5-3 in Moline. He then backed it up Saturday night in Indiana with 39 saves in regulation and 4-of-6 in the shootout for a 3-2 win over the Fort Wayne Komets. The 25-year olds Week 16 award is the second bestowed to a Jackals goaltender this season, Ryan McIntosh was given the UHLs weekly honor on January 9th, 2006 after his stellar play during Week 12. Boucher made a total of 75 saves on 80 shots this weekend, putting him up to 778 saves on the season.

After an exceptional weekend, Boucher has improved his season record to 8-13-4 with a 3.55 GAA and a 0.903 save percentage. He also passed the 1,400 minutes played mark for the year during Saturdays win over the Komets.

Elmira begins a 6-game home stand all against Eastern Division teams this week.
