Port Huron's Noah Ruden Dives To Protect His Goal Wednesday At First Arena

Elmira, NY The Port Huron Flags got two goals from newcomer Bobby Kukulka, including the game winner inside the final two minutes, as they beat the Elmira Jackals 2-1 Wednesday night at the First Arena.

After a scoreless first period in which the Jackals out-shot the Flags 15-8, Elmira captain Brent Cullaton his team on the board. Cullaton took a long pass from Scott Wray, skated in on goalie Noah Ruden and snapped a wrist-shot up over the blocker for his 5th goal of the season at 6:16, assisted by Scott Wray and Erik Anderson. But the Flags came back just before the break, as Bobby Kukulka tipped in a Shayne Tomlinson power play goal at 17:18, tying the game at one.

With the game leaning toward a shootout, Kukulka swooped in and stole the game for the visitors, scoring his 2nd goal of the game at 18:35 of the third period, assisted by Greg Bullock and Tomlinson.

Noah Ruden earned his first career professional win by stopping 32-of-33 shots in goal for the Flags as they improved to (7-14-4). Kris Tebbs made 25 saves on 27 shots in goal for the Jackals, who fell to 13-10-0 on the season. Port Huron was 1-for-4 on the power play in the game, while the Jackals were 0-for-5.

The Jackals hit the road for thee games in three nights this weekend beginning Friday night in Port Huron for a rematch with the Flags at 7:30 pm. Saturday the Jackals are in Flint to face the Generals and Sunday Elmira is in Kalamazoo for an afternoon game against the K-Wings.
