The Elmira Jackals Pro Placement Camp was a big success, as fans flocked to First Arena all weekend to see up-and-coming professional hockey prospects play competitive hockey.
In Sunday's championship game, the blue team beat the white team 8-7. After the game, Jackals General Manager Robbie S. Nichols and Head Coach Steve Martinson selected four players to participate in the Jackals Training Camp, which begins on October 1
Forward Derrell Levy (blue team, Toronto, ONT), who spent three years playing for Oswego State University.
Forward Jared Thompson (blue team, Hamilton, ONT), who most recently played for Queens University in Kingston, ONT.
Forward Martin Moucha (white team, Mountain Top, PA), formerly of Norwich University (D-III).
Goaltender Brien Bennett (blue team, Marlton Lakes, NJ), who played for Rowan University (ACHA D-II).
In its fourth year, the Elmira Jackals Pro Placement Camp once again gave players the chance to show their skills in front of professional scouts and coaches.
The Pro Placement Camp signaled the return of hockey to Elmira! Next up is the Jackals' 2009-2010 season, which begins with preseason games October 9, 10. The puck drops for the regular season on October 16, when the Jackals host the Cincinnati Cyclones in a rematch of last season's American Conference Semifinals.
