Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today that defenseman Trevor Burgess has become the fourth player to officially sign with the team for the 2005-2006 season.
Burgess returns for his fourth-straight season (fifth overall) with the Jackals. The Ottawa native ranks 5th on Elmiras All-Time Scoring chart with 138 points (24 goals, 114 assists) in 226 games played. In 614 career games he has accumulated 343 points (81 goals, 262 assists) and 770 minutes in penalties.
The 32 year-old has twice gone to the Colonial Cup Finals with the Jackals, in 2001-2002 and 2003-2004, where he put 21 points (3 goals, 18 assists) and 28 PIMs in 36 playoff games. Burgess has been Elmiras captain for a year and a half, first donning the C on his shoulder on February 4th, 2004 against the Port Huron Beacons. His is just the third player in the 5-year history of the franchise to wear the captains letter.
