Glens Falls, NY The Elmira Jackals, again led by two goals from Konstantin Kalmikov, iced the Adirondack Frostbite 3-1 Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The Frostbite got off to a very quick start when Greg Koehlers shot trickled through the pads of rookie goaltender Tyson Gajda just 31 seconds into the game. But the Jackals worked themselves back to a level score line thanks once again to the stellar play of Konstantin Kalmikov. Elmira tied the game at 1:45 with a power play goal from Kalmikov, tipping home a pass from Jason Sessa and cashing in on the games first power play; Trevor Burgess also assisted on the goal. Kalmikov then scored his 5th goal in the last two games, and 23rd of the season, when he fired in a rebound from Jarrett Konkle at 13:48. Elmira carried that 2-1 lead into the first intermission despite being out-shot by the Frostbite 13-9.

Just like Friday night in Danbury, Elmira took control in the second period. They out-shot Adirondack 11-6 and scored the periods only goal. Rookie forward Jarrett Konkle scored his team-leading 27th goal of the season, and his 13th power play goal, at 7:19, cranking a slap shot into the top corner of the net. Elmira took a 3-1 lead into the third period, out-shooting Adirondack 20-19 overall.

In the third period Elmira was forced to turn up the defense due to being dealt 3-straight minor penalties. But the Jackals hung tight, shutting down the Frostbite power play all night long. Rookie goalie Tyson Gajda stopped 15 shots in the third period as Adirondack bombarded the net, out-shooting the Jackals 15-2. The Frostbite pulled their goaltender with 2:30 left on the clock and it almost cost them dearly; four different Jackals players missed shots at the empty net before time expire.

Tyson Gajda earned his second straight win, and second since joining the Jackals, by making 33 saves on 34 shots. Kris Tebbs took the loss for Adirondack, stopping 19-of-22. The Jackals were 2-for-7 on the power play, while Adirondack was 0-for-7.

The Jackals will stay in Glens Falls another game against the Adirondack Frostbite Sunday at 5:15 pm at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Jackals will return home for the first of three Fan Appreciation games on Wednesday March 15th as they host the Richmond Riverdogs at the First Arena.
