Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today the signing of goaltender Nick Boucher for the 2005-2006 UHL season.
Taken by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 9th round (280th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Boucher spent his rookie season split between the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL and the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL. In Wheeling Boucher put up a 20-6-1 record with a 2.45 goals against average and a 0.908 save percentage earning him a selection to the ECHL All-Rookie Team.
Last season the Victoria, British Columbia native played under Coach Florio with the Pee Dee Pride where he posted a 2.74 GAA and a 0.910 save percentage over the course of 50 games played (the 5th most in the league). He also won the Most Inspirational Player Award for 2004-2005. The 24-year old played 4-years for division one Dartmouth College where he set numerous school goaltending records. He left the Ivy League institution 1st in career save percentage, 1st in most saves, 1st in most games played, and an MVP award.
