The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the United Hockey League, announced today the signing of Greg Hewitt to a one-year contract for the 2004-2005 season. He becomes the sixth player, and first goalie, signed for the upcoming season.

Hewitt, a London, Ontario native, played last season with the Columbus Stars of the UHL and finished the year playing for the Corpus Christi Rayz of the CHL. He led the Stars to an early season Eastern Conference first place position with a 13-7-3 record, 2.41 goals against average, and a .913 save percentage. Hewitt played his hockey in the ECHL in 2001-2003. In 2002-2003 he had a record of 15-10-1 for Cincinnati, with a 2.96 GAA and .909 save percentage. He was the backstop in Mobile in 2001-2002, compiling a 20-22-15 record, with a 3.02 GAA, with a .902 save percentage.
