ELMIRA, NY The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today the signing of right wingers Pierre-Luc Faubert (foh-BARE) and Ryan MacMurchy and defenseman Joe Grimaldi for the 2007-08 campaign. All three skaters will be in camp with the American Hockey Leagues Rochester Americans beginning next week.

The 21-year old Faubert is coming off of a 66-point effort last season with the Lewistion MAINEiacs (QMJHL) that placed him second in team scoring. Only David Perron, the 27th overall pick (St. Louis) in this springs NHL Entry Draft posted more points for the MAINEiacs.

Faubert skated two seasons with the Vaudreuil Mustangs (Quebec AAA Junior Hockey League) in lighting up the scoreboard with 173 points (80+93) in just 96 games prior to his exploits in Lewiston.

In 17 post season contests, Faubert was fourth in league scoring with 27 points and tied for second amongst all goal scorers with 12 in leading the MAINEiacs to the Presidents Cup (QMJHL Playoff Championship) and to within one win of an appearance in the Memorial Cup semifinals.

MacMurchy, 24, brings more size (62/215) to the Jackals forward unit in his second professional season. A member of the 2006 NCAA Division I champion Wisconsin Badgers (WCHA), MacMurchy registered 110 points in his four-year collegiate career. He combined for eight goals and 15 points in 2006-07, splitting time between Alaska (ECHL) and Peoria (AHL).

Grimaldi, 21, skated in 65 contests for the Ottawa 67s (OHL) in 2006-07. His 36 points (2+34) placed him seventh in overall team scoring and second amongst Ottawas defenders. The 61, 185-pounder displayed grit as well with 185 penalty minutes.

Beginning a collegiate career with the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (CCHA-NCAA) for a full season in 2004-05, Grimaldi picked up 17 points (4+13) in 38 games. After a 19-game stint in which he was 0+4=4, Grimaldi left school midway through the 2005-06 campaign for an opportunity in the Canadian junior ranks with Ottawa. In 27 contests, Grimaldi scored seven goals and 27 points with the 67s.

MacMurchy and Grimaldi will not be a lot of fun for opponents to come up against, Martinson said. Both, especially MacMurchy, possess the power and skill to either go through you or around you.

The Jackals open their first ECHL training camp on October 5th at First Arena.
