Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that left wing Tom Clayton has been traded to the Quad City Mallards for cash and future considerations.
Clayton appeared in 14 games this season for the Jackals, scoring 3 points (2 goals, 1 assists) and recording 61 penalty minutes. In parts of 5 seasons with Elmira, Clayton ranks 24th on the Jackals All-Time Scoring Chart with 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 217 games played. Only 5 players have appeared in more games for the franchise in it's 6 year history.
The 27-year old Binghamton, NY native had not played since he was placed on team suspension on November 28th. Clayton joins former Jackals defenseman Jason Jaworski, who was traded to the Mallards for defenseman Florian Iberer. Quad City's next game is on Friday December 16th as they play in Michigan against the Kalamazoo Wings.
The Jackals are off to Michigan as well this weekend. Friday they will play in Port Huron against the Flags at 7:30 pm. Saturday Elmira is at Perani's Arena to face off against the Flint Generals at 7:35 pm. Elmira's next home game takes place on Friday December 23rd as they host the Danbury Trashers at 7:05 pm at the First Arena.
