The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that left wing Kirill Starkov has been reassigned by the Columbus Blue Jackets from Elmira to the Youngstown Steelhounds of the Central Hockey League and that the club has acquired center Brett Pilkington from the Mississippi Sea Wolves in exchange for future considerations.
Starkov, 20, was a 6th round (183rd overall) pick by Columbus in 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year old had appeared in eight games with Elmira with no points and was a -1.
Pilkington, a 23-year old native of Calgary, AB, was the second leading a year ago with Quad City (United Hockey League) with 26 goals and 68 points. Including nine game with Kalamazoo early in the season, Pilkington posted 29 goals, 44 assists and 73 points to go along with a +15 rating.
A four-year collegiate career at Bowling Green State University (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) saw Pilkington post 28 goals and 62 assists for 90 points in 131 games with the Falcons. He ranked third in team scoring in each of his final three seasons.
In 11 games this season, Pilkington has one assist for one point and a -2 rating with the Mississippi Sea Wolves. He has joined the club in Beaumont, Texas, on their current road trip and is expected to play Friday night when the Jackals visit the Texas Wildcatters at 8:05 p.m.
