Wednesday, February 06, 2013ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals kick off a week of three home games tonight by welcoming the Reading Royals to First Arena. The Jackals are looking for back-to-back wins over Reading for the first time this season after a 5-2 win in Reading on January 21.

WHO: Elmira Jackals - Ottawa/NHL & Binghamton/AHL (23-18-4) vs. Reading Royals - Washington/NHL and Hershey/AHL (31-11-5).

The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the 10th of 16 meetings this season and the sixth of eight at First Arena. The Jackals are 3-4-2 against Reading this season - including a 2-2-1 mark at First Arena. The Jackals and Royals split their four games in January with each side winning twice while Reading held a slight advantage in outscoring Elmira 17-15. The Royals have cooled off slightly in the second half with a 5-3-3 record in their last 11 games where as the Jackals have gone 7-3-1 over the same span. This is the first of four games between the Jackals and Royals in February with all four coming in a span of 11 days.

Over the four weeks of February's schedule, the Jackals will have no problem identifying their opponent on a night-by-night basis. Their next 11 games are all played against the same four opponents: Reading (4), Kalamazoo (3), Wheeling (2), and Trenton (2). They have a 12-10-3 combined record against those opponents. Seven of the games will be on home ice while four are on the road. The schedule gets even more division-centric in March when Elmira plays 10 of its 16 games against the Atlantic.
