The Elmira Jackals announced on Friday that they have been assigned forwards Jason Bailey and Mike Hoffman from their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. The B-Sens have recalled forward Yannick Tifu from Elmira. The Jackals also announced that goaltender Marco Cousineau has been recalled by their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch and that they have traded defenseman Jody Pederson to the Stockton Thunder to complete a deal for goaltender Garrett Zemlak.
Bailey has skated in 17 games with the B-Sens this season, totaling 11 penalty minutes. Last season, Bailey scored six goals and added an assist for seven points to go along with 78 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Senators. The native of Nepean, Ontario was drafted by Anaheim in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Hoffman has played in 46 games in his rookie season with Binghamton, contributing 16 points (6g-10a). In 2009-2010, Hoffman was awarded the Michel-Briere Trophy as the QMJHL's most valuable player, accumulating 85 points (46g-39a) to help lead Saint John to the league's finals. Hoffman was a runner-up to the CHL's Player of the Year award to current NHLers Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle in 2009-2010. The Kitchener, Ontario product was a member of Memorial Cup semifinalist Drummondville in 2008-2009, garnering 94 points (52g-42a).
Zemlak, a rookie goaltender from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was initially acquired earlier this week by the Jackals from the Thunder.
