Tuesday, April 10, 2012The top-seeded Elmira Jackals will battle the fifth-seeded Florida Everblades in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The series will follow a 2-3-2 format, with Games 1, 2, 6 (if necessary), and 7 (if necessary) to take place in Elmira and Games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary) to be played in Florida.
The Jackals defeated the Reading Royals in five games in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals while the Everblades swept the Greenville Road Warriors in three games in the opening round. Elmira is in the second round of the playoffs for the second time in its ECHL history. The Jackals were swept by the Cyclones in their only other appearance past the first round in the 2009 North Division Finals.
Elmira and Florida met in the 2010 American Conference Quarterfinals, with the Everblades winning the series, three games to two. This will mark the second playoff series all-time between the two clubs. The Jackals posted a 4-2-0-0 record against the Everblades during the 2011-2012 regular season.
