Monday, April 16, 20121 Elmira Jackals at 5 Florida Everblades
The Elmira Jackals and the Florida Everblades head to Germain Arena for Game 3 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinals at 7:30 p.m. The Everblades shut out the Jackals in Game 2 on Saturday night at First Arena, 5-0, behind two goals from Trevor Bruess and a combined 19 saves from goaltenders John Muse and Pat Nagle. The Jackals and the Everblades will play the middle three games of the series at Germain Arena and then will return to Elmira for Games 6 and 7, if necessary, on Monday, Apr. 23, and Wednesday, Apr. 25.
The Jackals are 0-2 on the road in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs and are 4-11 all-time in away postseason contests since entering the ECHL in 2007-2008. Elmira has not won an away postseason since Game 2 of the 2010 American Conference Quarterfinals, when it defeated Florida at Germain Arena, 5-2. The Jackals are 3-2-0-0 all-time in road contests against the Everblades combining the regular season and playoffs.
Rookie forward Jack Downing will join the Jackals for the remainder of the postseason after the Binghamton Senators' season come to an end this past Saturday. Downing scored 11 goals and added eight assists for 19 points in 25 games with the Jackals in 2011-2012 while posting nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 47 contests with the B-Sens this season. The New Canaan, Conn. native recorded an assist in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals last Monday, as the Jackals defeated the Reading Royals, 4-2.
