Trenton, N.J. - The Elmira Jackals (29-24-6-3) dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Trenton Devils (23-33-2-5) on Sunday evening at the Sun National Bank Center. Rookie goaltender Jared DeMichiel made a career-high 49 saves on 51 shots in his Jackals debut as Elmira earned a point for the fifth-straight game.

The Jackals established a two-goal lead in the second period. Eric Regan wristed a puck from the left point past the stick of Jeff Lerg to give Elmira a 1-0 lead at 2:03 with his 10th goal of the season. Chris Frank scored his first goal of the season and second as a pro at 19:36 to make it 2-0 in favor of the Jackals. Frank stickhanded in from center ice to the net via the right-wing circle and pushed the puck over the goal line from the side of the net for the marker.

Trenton battled back with a pair of goals in the third period to send the game into overtime. Ryan Ginand fired a puck past DeMichiel's stick from the slot at 3:23 of the third while Trevor Kell's shot from the top of the left circle changed directions off the leg of a Jackals defenseman and skipped through DeMichiel's pads to tie the game at 14:30 of the third.

The teams skated through overtime tied, 2-2, and the game went to a shootout. In the shootout, Ryan Hayes, Matt Lombardi, and J.S. Berube scored for Trenton, with Justin Donati netting Elmira's lone goal in the shootout, as Trenton won 3-2.

DeMichiel's overall record dropped to 14-10-0-1 while Devils goaltender Jeff Lerg improved to 9-10-0-0 with 33 saves on 35 shots.
