The Elmira Jackals continue their stretch of five games in seven days when they battle the Reading Royals for the first of 16 times this season tonight at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals beat the Gwinnett Gladiators in overtime, 3-2, on Wednesday while the Royals dropped a 5-2 decision to the Trenton Titans earlier in the week. Mike Ratchuk had a goal and two assists on Wednesday for his most productive offensive evening of the season, as the South Buffalo, N.Y. native factored in on all three Jackals goals. Ratchuk assisted on Artem Demkov's goal, scored Elmira's second goal of the contest, and then set up Evan Barlow's game winner. The fourth-year pro leads Elmira defensemen with six points (3g-3a) and is tied for 12th in the ECHL in that department.

Demkov's power-play goal in the first period marked the seventh time in nine games Elmira scored first in the 2011-2012 season. The Jackals are tied for second in the ECHL in the first-goal category and are 5-2-0-0 when scoring the game's first goal. Demkov is atop the ECHL with four first goals, equaling the most by any Jackals in the 2010-2011 season.
