Elmira, N.Y. - Timo Pielmeier made a season-high 42 saves and the Elmira Jackals (24-12-1-0) ended the weekend with a victory on Sunday at First Arena, defeating the Trenton Titans (13-17-3-3), 3-1.

After a scoreless opening period, Jack Downing finished off a centering attempt by Kyle Reeds by pushing a puck past Titans netminder Dave Caruso from the left side of the crease, giving Elmira a 1-0 advantage 43 seconds into the middle frame.

Dustin Cameron drove the net and tied the game at 6:16 of the third period, sending a loose puck past Pielmeier from the top of the crease, evening the score at 1-1.

With the Jackals on a five-on-three man advantage, Downing redirected a centering feed from Dustin Gazley into the net, putting Elmira in front for good, 2-1, at 8:07.

After a late penalty kill by the Jackals, Gazley stickhandled into the offensive end to set up Elmira's third goal. Gazley dropped a puck back to Kevin Harvey in the slot who then gave it along to Louie Caporusso in the right circle. Caporusso pushed the puck back to Gazley, who backhanded it past Caruso's stick to extend Elmira's lead to 3-1 at 17:17.

Pielmeier improved to 8-5-1-0 with his spectacular effort, including a 4-0-1-0 mark in his last five outings, and was named the game's first star. Caruso fell to 9-11-1-3, making 33 stops.

The win was Elmira's fourth in a row against Trenton. The Jackals have taken points in 12-straight games against Atlantic Division opponents, dating back to Nov. 26. Elmira extended its Eastern Conference lead to four points in the win, as the Jackals became the second team in the ECHL after the Alaska Aces to reach 24 wins. Gazley tied Mike Radja for the team lead at 34 points with his two-point outing. The game-winning goal was the first of Downing's career. Downing also registered his first-career multi-goal game. Elmira snapped a two-game winless mark in the victory. The Jackals have taken points in 11 of the last 12 games
