The Elmira Jackals are back at First Arena for three games this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they take on the Wheeling Nailers, Reading Royals, and Trenton Devils at home.
Fans arriving early at Friday's game will receive hockey pucks courtesy of Donate Life America. The Jackals will wear special Donate Life America jerseys on Friday and Saturday and then auction the jerseys off to fans after Saturday's game. On McDonald's Sunday, fans are invited to skate with the Jackals following their game against the Devils.
The Jackals have had four players head to their AHL affiliates since their latest game on Sunday.
Yannick Tifu and Corey Cowick were recalled to the Binghamton Senators earlier this week. Andrew Sweetland was signed by the B-Sens to a PTO on Monday, while Brian Lebler was recalled to the Syracuse Crunch on Monday.
The Second Annual Wiener Dog Race presented by the Puppy Patch is this Friday during the first intermission of Elmira's game against Wheeling.
Over 25 dogs are slated to participate in the race. There is still time to enter your wiener dog in the race and the top finishers receive prizes from the Puppy Patch, so don't miss out.
Elmira defeated Trenton in the Jackals' latest home game on Feb. 18, 5-2. The Jackals dropped games on Wednesday and Saturday to the Devils, 5-4 and 3-2, and fell on Sunday to the Royals, 5-2.
Yannick Tifu led Elmira over the four games with six points (2g-4a) and was +2. Tifu scored both Jackals goals in Sunday's loss to Reading.
Goaltender Marco Cousineau went 1-3 despite a .921 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average. The St. Lazare, Quebec native entered the games on Wednesday and Sunday with the Jackals already trailing by a pair of goals but took the losses in both contests.
The Jackals have their last four-day break between games of the season this week. Following this week, Elmira will have no more than two days between games, with the Jackals playing their final 20 games over a 37-day stretch to finish the 2010-2011 regular season.
Elmira begins this final playoff push just one point out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
