Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today the hiring of an Equipment Manager and a Head Athletic Trainer for the 2005-06 season.
The Jackals filled the two vacancies in their hockey staff Wednesday by hiring Cassie Franklin, ATC as the Head Athletic Trainer and Michael Salisbury as the new Equipment Manager.
Franklin comes to the Jackals from Greenville, South Carolina where she worked for the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL. Along with her duties with the hockey club, Franklin worked for Greenville Hospital Systems as a Certified High School Athletic Trainer.
I am really excited to be working for the Jackals, said Elmiras new Head Athletic Trainer. I have never lived in the northeast and I think Elmira will be a wonderful change of scenery.
Originally from Iowa, Cassie holds a B.A. in Athletic Training from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is also certified as a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer by the American Heart Association.
Salisbury comes to Elmira with a variety of experience as a pro-hockey Equipment Manager. Most recently he was an Assistant Equipment Manager for the Binghamton Senators during their Calder Cup playoff run in 2003. For the 2002-2003 season Salisbury was the Head Equipment Manager for the Jacksonville Barracudas of the SPHL. He has also held Assistant positions with the Binghamton Rangers (1996-97) and the Pee Dee Pride (2000-01), which was prior to when Coach Florio was the Prides general.
Mike also comes very highly recommended, said Coach Florio. He is a very hard worker and should handle the position with the utmost professionalism.
I think were going to have a great year and I cant wait for the season to start, said Salisbury. I have already talked to some of the players to get the ball rolling in that aspect and I think working for Perry is going to be a very good situation for me and my family.
A native of Binghamton, New York, Mike graduated from Binghamton High School in 1996 and was an assistant coach from 1997-1999 for the Maine-Endwell High School hockey team. He currently lives in Binghamton, NY with his fiance Kimberly and their 19-month old daughter Colleen.
