Elmira, NY The Elmira Jackals announced today the signing of returning defenseman Bryan Cummings and newcomer Mike Dombkiewicz for the 2005-2006 season.
Although he is a new edition to the city of Elmira, Dombkiewicz was no stranger to the Jackals and the United Hockey League last year. He split time between three different UHL clubs, the Kansas City Outlaws, the Richmond Riverdogs and the Missouri River Otters. In a combined 79 games played last season, the Buffalo, NY native scored 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) and had 75 minutes of penalties. Dombkiewicz also played 4-years of college hockey in Canada, split between the University of Prince Edward Island and the University of New Brunswick. The 26-year old also has some playoff experience, appearing in 6 games for Missouri in 2004-05, scoring one goal and one assist.
Returning to Elmira is 3rd-year defenseman Bryan Cummings. The 62 195 lbs Cummings played in 59 games for the Jackals last season, recording 8 assists and 65 penalty minutes. The Austin, Minnesota native began his career with the Adirondack IceHawks in 2003-04, and then made quick stops with the Kalamazoo Wings and the Richmond Riverdogs before joining the Jackals two weeks into the season last October.
