LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) is conducting the annual meeting of the Board of Governors in Las Vegas, Nevada. The meetings began Monday, June 19th and will conclude on Wednesday, June 21st, 2006.
On Monday, the Board of Governors adopted a salary cap of $300,000 for the 2006-07 hockey season. Along with the new figure, the Board implemented a refined structure of enforcement and penalties for violations of the cap.
The league has taken a positive step forward with the implementation of a new hard salary cap, stated Richard Brosal, UHL President/CEO. The cap also features strict rules and penalties that will help each club maintain the highest standards of business and continue to put forth an elite brand of hockey.
The Board of Governors elected the UHL Executive Committee for the 2006-07 season
Paul Pickard was voted as the Chairman of the Board.
UHL Member Clubs also focused efforts on the schedule of games for the 2006-07 season. Each team will play a total of 76 games (38 home, 38 road) during the 26 weeks of the season. Rick Stone of Optimal Planning Solutions worked with the league to finalize the 380-game schedule. A complete schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
